A Colorado Family Movement
UP is the coalition campaign turning Colorado's phone-policy law into bell-to-bell policy in every district. Twenty-three organizations, convened by the Fund for a Healthier Colorado, working to put every district on a bell-to-bell policy by July 2026.
We didn't ask parents to keep kids away from leaded gasoline. We changed the environment. Engineered addiction in the hands of 12-year-olds is the same category of problem, and it needs the same category of fix.
Bell-to-bell, all-day, K-12 phone-free policies are the only version that recovers focus, rebuilds social connection, and moves the needle on youth mental health. Every weaker policy leaks the day back in.
Phones come out every few minutes. Class never really starts.
Kids check phones between every class and at lunch. Each notification costs 23 minutes to refocus, so the next class starts already distracted.
A phone in the pocket still drains attention and memory. Cyberbullying and group chats run all day.
Focus comes back. Friendships rebuild. Mental health improves. The only version of the policy backed by the evidence.
We're not convincing anyone. We're helping people get what they already say they want, and turning broad public support into bell-to-bell policy in every Colorado district.
